The Challenge
The Simpson A & B Platform Boat Fenders and Access Ladders were heavily corroded and had been taken out of service. As the only means of access, this limited maintenance access to the platform and a non-hotwork replacement was needed.
The Solution
Cube carried out a detailed assessment of the existing platforms and devised replacement clamped Fenders and Access Ladders to be installed around the remnants of the old fender which was being removed. The new Fender interfaced with the existing mid-height platform and a second Access Ladder provided access to the topsides. The new Fenders and Access Ladders are designed to meet 100-year cyclonic storm loading and boat impact loads. SMA & SMB point cloud data was imported into our 3D modelling software to ensure offshore installation was unobstructed and clash-free. Detailed lift and fit-up considerations ensured a quick, safe, and efficient installation.
The Scope
Cube delivered the following scope:
- Basis of Design
- Structural concept & constructability
- Detailed structural engineering of 1 x Boat Fender and 1no. Upper Access Ladders
- Installation lift dwgs & rigging design
- HAZID involvement
