The Challenge:
The existing Double Island Boat Fender and Access Ladders were assessed to be not fit-for-purpose and required replacement. The replacement design needed to accommodate no offshore hot work while resisting extreme storm and vessel impact loads. Installation also presented a lifting challenge, with structural limitations on rigging from the minimal topsides structure – no problem, we designed, tested and certified an offshore lift davit to DNV specifications.
The Outcome:
Design: Cube delivered the detailed structural design of the replacement boat fender & access ladder, upper access ladder c/w clamped connections. The design was developed to withstand 100-year cyclonic storm conditions and operational boat impact loads without the need for offshore welding. All items were designed to meet the constraints of offshore transport & lifting.
Fabrication: Cube managed the fabrication of the replacement fender and access ladder assemblies, including procurement, fabrication, welding, NDT, coating, inspection and delivery of a comprehensive MDR.
Installation davits: To support offshore installation, Cube engineered dedicated 3.5t offshore and 500kg on-platform davits, including clamp interfaces & installation engineering. Davit structural design loads were developed in accordance with DNV-ST-0378.
Testing: Full scale testing of both davits was carried out in accordance with DNV-ST-0378 prior to delivery.
