Kentz (now SNC Lavalin) required 3rd party verification of structural designs supporting telecommunication and electronic equipment located subsea at Chevron’s Marine Offloading Facility (MOF).
Cube was engaged to redesign the sea current meter support clamp and cable riser and guides on the MOF3 navigation aid. The design was required to withstand cyclonic wave conditions. The design was to be retro-fit to the existing navigation aid pile subsea. Consequently, ease of installation using small vessels was paramount.
To allay owners corrosion concerns, stainless steel was specified throughout.
Cube Offshore collaborated with SNC Lavalin to develop a comprehensive basis of design and then performed concept studies to select the preferred design with robustness and ease of installation of foremost concern. The detailed design delivered a design that was robust and simple to fabricate and install.
