Scope
Apache’s Varanus Island Compression Project (VICP) was required to ensure ongoing domestic gas supply from offshore fields with decreasing pressure via the existing facilities on Varanus Island. Following on from the successful Concept and FEED phases of the project, Cube Offshore was engaged to provide structural and civil expertise to support Apache during the detailed design, tendering, fabrication, load-out, sea transportation, and load-off phase of the project. Apache awarded the detailed design of the modular structures to Clough, the fabrication to GPS in Batam and the load-out and transportation to deugro.
Outcome
In addition to technical oversight of the design, Cube client representation role extended to involvement in interfacing with vendors, marine warranty surveyors, fabricator and transportation contractors across project management, tendering, contracts, commercial, site query, quality and logistic activities.Cube provided civil and structural, technical and commercial client representation and worked within the Apache team. The designs are required to withstand temporary or pre-service load conditions such as lifting, sea transport, road transport by self-propelled mobile (multi-wheel road) transporters (SPMT). In-service load conditions included cyclonic wind and blast loading. Civil and quayside marine works and foundations were also part Cube’s scope.
